Week 3: Day 5
Scripture: Luke 2:8-14; Galatians 4:4-5
For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
It was the birth announcement of the King. In a field full of shepherds he was announced and given the title above every title: Savior. Lord.
Christ.
They couldn't have known. There was so much happening: their fear and surprise and the giant Warriors of Light announcing and praising and worshiping. They could not have grasped the magnitude of this moment.
The title that will one day be the final word.
That at this baby's very name, every knee will bow and every tongue will call him by his title, Christ. Lord. (Philippians 2) This baby was their rescue. (Galatians 4) The one who would be the peace they had been searching for their entire lives. (Micah 5) This child would fill all of the gaps in all of history. In fact, his birth would be the most pivotal moment of all time.
From this moment on, everything would be
"before" or "after."
They couldn't have known.
This baby, He was the King.
Prayer:
Come, Thou long expected Jesus,
Born to set Thy people free.
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in Thee.
Israel's Strength and Consolation,
Hope of all the earth Thou art.
Dear Desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.
Born Thy people to deliver.
Born a child and yet a King.
Born to reign in us forever,
Now Thy gracious kingdom bring.
By Thine own eternal Spirit,
Rule in all our hearts alone.
By Thine all sufficient merit,
Raise us to Thy glorious throne.
Amen.
